How do I get my Sprouts wallet to connect to the Sprouts network?

#1

How do I get my Sprouts wallet to connect to the Sprouts network? I downloaded the wallet to my PC and it says ) connections to the Sprout network. I all ready sent coins to the address in the wallet. Are they lost? Please someone help…

#2

Is your wallet synchronized yet? It’s a versionCapturar

#3

My Client Version is this @Rodpalmeira however show that have 0 active connections.

#4

@Thhc10 Have you tried this:
https://sprouts.community/t/one-example-of-getting-wallet-to-sync-as-of-sept-2017/129

#5

After some hours it worked out.:grinning:

#6

@Thhc10 Good to hear it works now!

#7

No it is not… Do you have whats app? I have over 1B coins in the balance

#8

Before trying anything else, be sure that you make several backup copies of your “wallet.dat” file before you do anymore experimentation. It contains the keys to your 1B coins.

The “wallet.dat” file can usually be found here (if on a windows 7 pc):

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Sprouts

#9

If it never connected to the network how would wallet.dat file have copies of my coins? Do you have whats app? Please help?

#10

Let us start with this small step:

Do you mind posting the public address to which you sent your 1B coins here?

(That is, post it to this thread. Here is an example of what a public address for sprouts looks like:
SbEY7BR4atQe3jbT7fSXDm7Qr9BMhcajCM
Its ok to post it if its the public address. The way that these public addresses work is one way only. Anyone can send coins to it, but only you can send coins out of it.)

#12

ok, so when I paste your address into the explorer it shows that you deposited 1,016,112,093.3 sprouts on Nov 6th. So the coins are there.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/sprts/address.dws?SdsLYj4nyir6som72g4zJhFHrdQhnVxKe1.htm

Next, you’ll need to backup your wallet, by saving a copy of the “wallet.dat” file.

Go to the “roaming” directory and copy the “wallet.dat” to somewhere else, even another computer. Make several copies of this file, it contains your keys to your 1B coins. The “roaming” directory on a windows 7 PC is usually here:

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Sprouts

If you have done this, made copies of “wallet.dat”, and only after you have made copies, then you can go ahead and delete that roaming directory. And also delete all copies of the sprouts executable, the “sprouts.exe file”, and any other “sprouts” files you might have. Of course, don’t delete the “wallet.dat” files, those you’ll want to keep safe, those are your coins.

#13

Then ,after saving the “wallet.dat” file, you’ll want to follow step by step the directions I’ve laid out in this thread:

https://sprouts.community/t/one-example-of-getting-wallet-to-sync-as-of-sept-2017/129

The above steps describe where to download the working sprouts executable, the “sprouts.exe” file. The executable should be placed into its own directory along with the dlls I’ve described.

So, when placed into their directory, something like:

C:\crypto_coins\sprouts

The contents of this new directory should simply be:

libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll
libstdc+±6.dll
libwinpthread-1.dll
sprouts.exe (size: 23,469 kb)

Once that’s done, then you run the “sprouts.exe” file. This is the wallet’s executable, and it will create a fresh new “roaming” directory, with a brand new “wallet.dat” file, which you can remove after the file has finished syncing.

To get the wallet to sync up with the network you’ll need to create a “_sprouts.conf” file. The directions in how to do that are the in above link.

Another problem that might occur is with windows 8, or windows 10, in that while trying to create a basic text file: “sprouts.conf”, the windows explorer will attach an extra extension to the file. So instead of creating “sprouts.conf”, it creates “sprouts.conf.txt” … and this then is never found by the executable, and so the wallet never finds a peer, and never finishes syncing.

This problem is described here:
https://sprouts.community/t/sprouts-conf-further-fix-for-getting-wallet-to-sync-on-win7-win10/131

Once your sprouts wallet has finished syncing, turn it off.

You can then go ahead and put back your original “wallet.dat” file, which you had saved earlier, into the newly created “roaming” directory:

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Sprouts

Restart the sprouts wallet, and you should now see your 1B coins.

I am glad that you saw my coins and for all the info you shared. But to be honest with you, you may have well have spoken Russian. I do no take direction over the internet well, thats why my coins are in limbo. If you know anyone that is willing to chat with me through whats app or any other medium to help me, it would be appreciated. I cant even save this wallet.dat file. I would just mess things up further. Or can you give me an alternative to just get my coins out of this limbo and placed back onto an online exchange. Thanx in advance.

#15

Ok, I see what you mean. There is another way but I can’t post that here publicly. Send me a private message when you are ready, and we can continue there. I’ve helped others (@blockgators) this way.

I’m afraid that there is no alternative way to do it since you’d have to have a working wallet to access the keys in the “wallet.dat” file to send them back to an exchange.

By the way, keeping coins at an exchange is not advisable for any crypto-coin, since one never knows when an exchange can go poof.

@ross13 @pipeshark
Your patience is appreciated as we have different timezones, and different teammembers have different expertise. I am not the expert for the wallet. I bet @arcmetal will gladly help you when online.

#19

Chances are you still need to setup the sprouts configuration file: “sprouts.conf”.

If you can follow along with the directions laid out in this post below, it should get it working:
https://sprouts.community/t/one-example-of-getting-wallet-to-sync-as-of-sept-2017/129

Also, there is a minor problem with getting it to work on windows 8 and 10, because of the extra “txt” that windows attaches to text files, and so its why I wrote up the next thread:
https://sprouts.community/t/sprouts-conf-further-fix-for-getting-wallet-to-sync-on-win7-win10/131

#20

ISSUE RESOLVED NOW. The txt in the conf file was the cause.
